Diversity Equity and Inclusion

The VandeVord TNT Lab is committed to fostering a diverse and positive lab climate. As a group we celebrate, support, and empower all of our lab members, and we welcome diversity across all backgrounds. This includes but is not limited to, race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or ability, or their intersections. To this end, we aim to BLAST through societal barriers by:

1. Promoting and maintaining an environment free from discrimination or harassment regardless of background
2. Striving to ensure equitable access to all equipment, resources, and opportunities in the lab
3. Maintaining a culture of support and inclusion with open communication, ensuring everyone feels comfortable to be completely authentic to who they are both professionally and personally
4. Celebrating our differences and using them to advance scientific discovery by respecting individual needs and styles
5. Finding areas to go above and beyond the status quo to broaden representation in STEM, correcting historical opportunity imbalances, and in return, improving science
